| Accept, dear girl, this little token, And if between the lines you seek, You'll find the love I've often spoken The love my dying lips shall speak. Our little ones are making merry O'er am'rous ditties rhymed in jest, But in these words (though awkwardvery) The genuine article's expressed. You are as fair and sweet and tender, Dear brown-eyed little sweetheart mine, As when, a callow youth and slender, I asked to be your Valentine. What though these years of ours be fleeting? What though the years of youth be flown? I'll mock old Tempus with repeating, "I love my love and her alone!" And when I fall before his reaping, And when my stuttering speech is dumb, Think not my love is dead or sleeping, But that it waits for you to come. So take, dear love, this little token, And if there speaks in any line The sentiment I'd fain have spoken, Say, will you kiss your Valentine? |

A Valentine To My Wife by Eugene Field
Happiness Has Been Your Gift to Me
All these years of melody and pain,
Pleasure, hardship, wanton rhapsody,
Pure delight and hard, wind-driven rain.
Years do not add up to love and glory:
All things rest on non-things far more true.
No note is so sustained throughout our story;
Nothing but your love, and mine for you.
In our lives must always be confusion:
Very little lost in Time is clear.
Even so, the whirlwind's an illusion
Regarding the few things we hold most dear.
So you have chosen me, and in that choice
Alone I find my refuge and my voice.
Reality is made by our own will:
You made my world and hold me in it still.

Love Is Never Easy
It turns life into song.
There is no bit of circumstance
That love cannot transform.
There is no weary moment
Of anger or despair
That love cannot convert to grace
And render whole and fair.
How passionate the paradise
That comes from knowing well
That someone in your happiness
Finds pleasure for himself.
How sweet the gift of giving to
Someone who gives to you,
A selflessness that gives to self
More self than self is due.
With all the searing madness of
The world from day to day,
And all the dreary sadness that
No joy can take away,
There is one truth more beautiful
Than anyone can bear:
That two can trust that when they turn
They'll find the other there.

Uncanny once again;
And every kiss, a brand new kiss,
New won, no matter when.
And every love, a brand new love,
New cherished every day;
Though lips and heart may slowly age,
The awe-struck boy will stay.
And I will vow again to love
You each day of my life,
As though each morning were the first
We rose as man and wife.
Just as a meadow washed by rain
Is relit by the dawn,
Just so our love, as we grow old,
Will each day be reborn.

And all I'll ever be.
You are my moon, my sun and stars,
My earth, my sky, my sea.
My love for you goes down and down
Beneath both life and death,
So deep it must remain when I
Have drawn my last faint breath.
Holding you for months and years
Will make Time disappear,
Will make your lips my lips, your face
My face, your tear my tear;
Will make us one strange personage
All intertwined in bliss,
Not man or woman, live or dead--
Just nothing--but a kiss!

Though my time with you is thin.
I am always thinking of you,
Always loving you within.
A full-time working mom and wife
Just doesn't have much time to give.
But I have given you my life,
And you still reign where I most live.
I do the best that I can do
And hope that you will understand
That everything belongs to you:
My eyes, my thoughts, my heart, my hand.

More Ways Then One
by Strawberry Short Cake
You say I'm perfect
flawless in every way
but that is you
my life was nothing
but a disaster before
you came into my life
The pain cute like a knife
until i met you
You saved me in more ways
then any other
You say i fit perfectly
within your arms
but it is you
whom fits around my
heart and soul
The tears i once shed
you wiped away
the pain i once felt you
replaced with love
You are my saver
and you are the flawless one
the one who saved my heart and soul
in more ways then one.
My Everything
by Lori
You're mine,
Nobody else's,
And I like it this way,
So let's try to make it last!
She still wants you,
But that ain't gonna happen,
At least not while
I'm around!
She leaves you cute little messages,
That says she wants you back,
She'd better watch out what she says in those messages,
Because they don't make me sad!
You're mine,
Nobody else's,
And I like it this way,
We're going to make it last!
You're pretty much all I have,
You're my everything,
And I think it's going to stay this way,
So she'd better stay back!
Lust for One You Love
By Nicholas Gordon
Lust for one you love
Is like a garden flower
That must be pruned and weeded
Before it yields its treasure.
Years refine its grace,
But only with devotion
And much imagination
To freshen the familiar.
But, ah! what then the freedom
That comes alone from giving
And knowing that your wishes
Will be your lover's pleasure!
For in the utmost chamber
Lust is quickly sated
While love still craves redemption,
Ever the lost savior.
